Rubber Bands

Rubber Bands by Richard Le Sauvage
Rubber Bands, a photo by Richard Le Sauvage on Flickr.

This Macro Monday’s theme “Tie”.
Saw my daughter playing with these coloured rubber bands. She was getting them all tangled up and leaving them everywhere. So when she had finished, I was cleaning them up and found two rubber bands stuck together. I decided to tie two more together so that there was one of each colour and the above photo is what I came up with.
Exposure 13 and Aperture f/25.0

RGB Knot

This Macro Monday’s theme “Tie”.
To create this photo I used two white tied elastic cufflinks, dipped each end in food dye (Red, Green and Blue). Rinsed off the excess food dye to lighten the colours then tied them by twisting the two cuff links together to hold them in position. They were then placed on a freshly wiped down black cook top to create pattern and reflection. Background was made by the use of a bracelet to make the bokeh effect.
Exposure 2.5 and Aperture f/9.0

World Keeps Turning

World Keeps Turning, a photo by Richard Le Sauvage on Flickr.

For this week Macro Monday’s theme “Motion Blur” I used a miniature globe with minimal lights on set the aperture to f/15 and had the shutter open for 8 seconds. Held the base of the globe in place, and then continued to spin the globe for the full duration of the shutter being open.

Miniture old world zodiac globe made in Italy spinning, with the words Zona Fredda Settent (Cold North Area or Cold Seventh Zone).
Tried to capture three themes into one photo Macro, Motion Blur and Bokeh.

Busy Lines

Busy Lines, a photo by Richard Le Sauvage on Flickr.

This is a close up shot of one of my 19 month old daughters drawings with texters.

She chooses the colours, leaving the lids and already used texters lying everywhere. They are always colourful and very busy filling almost every square inch of the paper. I’m kept kept on my toes by making sure she only draws on the paper not the walls, furniture, books, dolls or herself. This is one of my busiest job of the day. Looking after her even though it is not easy is the best and most rewarding job I have ever had.

Golf Glass

Golf Glass by Richard Le Sauvage
Golf Glass, a photo by Richard Le Sauvage on Flickr.

This photo of ‘Golf Glass’ is a macro photo of a golf ball in a small plastic cup.
To get this photo I placed a plastic cup on a table and filled with water. Had a background of white table slats to enhance the reflection of light and colours from the water. I then placed a drop of blue food dye into the cup and mixed the water to achieve a light blue colour. Then placed the golf ball into the water and topped the water up so the glass was full. This creates a slight dome caused by the water’s surface tension which refracts the light entering the water and shows us a skewed image of the ball on the surface.

Iceberg Ahead

Iceberg Ahead by Richard Le Sauvage
Iceberg Ahead, a photo by Richard Le Sauvage on Flickr.

This photo of ‘Iceberg Ahead’ is a macro photo of a crushed ice block.
To get this photo I placed a glass jar upside down on a table in the sun to heat up. Had a background of black mesh to enhance the colours from the ice. I then placed a few drops of blue food dye onto the jar before adding the crushed ice. Whilst the ice began to melt, the camera was set up on a tripod to make sure manual focus was set. The melting ice combined with the dye created the base of the photo or the sea. The remaining ice creates the icebergs floating on the sea.

This weeks Macro Mondays theme was “Clothing.” This shot is of the rivet on my jeans next to the pocket. Iset the jeans up on my kitchen top, setup the tripod, aperture set to 22, shutter time set at 6 seconds to maximise light and detail.

Week 52 FlickrFriday theme was: #SomethingGoldSomethingBlue.

Up close shot of sunflower with bright blue sky background. I had to wait a while for the majority of the clouds to pass so that the background was mainly blue.
