The Spider’s Curve

The S(pider’s)Curve circular shape spider uses to make a web to maximise transmissions along a radius from the the prey-catching zone to the middle of the web where the spider waits.
The spider saw me comming and ran for it. Would have liked to have the spider in shot.

Dead Fly

Fly by Richard Le Sauvage
Fly, a photo by Richard Le Sauvage on Flickr.

Used this dead fly to practice macro photography on. The best thing about using a dead fly, they don’t move. You have time to set everything up, adjust the focus and try a few aperture settings to work out which would be best. After about 10 shots using different angles and apertures, I achieved this photo. My favorite part of this photo if the wings and legs.

Sleeping Moth

Sleeping Moth, a photo by Richard Le Sauvage on Flickr.

Moving some things in the backyard I came across this moth sleeping on the underside of a bluestone. The good thing was that it stayed in the same position long enough for me to get my camera and set up the tripod. This allowed me to get a clear detail shot of the moth. I’m very happy with the way it came out.

Resting Butterfly

Resting Butterfly by Richard Le Sauvage
Resting Butterfly, a photo by Richard Le Sauvage on Flickr.

This photo was taken at the Melbourne Zoo butterfly enclosure. Many photos were taken but without a tripod to stabilise the camera most of the shots did not have the detail wanted. It was done by resting the camera on a handrail and then used manual focus with stabilizer turned off.
